This weekend has been a bit of a long one. Out little munchkin has been sick with a fever and super fussy, so we’ve all been home bodies for a few days. I’m pretty ready for her to start feeling better, it’s no fun seeing her so miserable. And I’m really missing that sweet smile. Here’s hoping Monday will bring some relief for my angel.

How fantastic is this? Our home is definitely a place of everyday mundane chores, but our 2 little girls make it the most amazing place on earth. I would love to have the XXL block mounted and hanging in my home. (to order, go here)

Such a creative and yet, such a simple use for a basket. I’m a sucker for baskets and I just love this idea. Even nicer when your cookbooks are pretty and colorful. Maybe I would actually use them if they were out on my counter…

Pretty Pyrex

I would love all of these in my kitchen (I would also love the space for all of them in my kitchen, but that’s a different story). My aunt gave me 2 vintage bowls like these (white with the red birds) and I love it when I have the chance to use them. 

Today had some emotional highs and lows for my little Emma. All was well in music class until near the end, when she wanted to go into another room and was not allowed to. Then the waterworks began. The mood carried on into lunch with some other moms and kiddos, and pretty much until we got home. I don’t think it will get any easier from here on out. She is 2 years old, very vocal, and even more willful. I love and adore her to pieces, and for the most part, she’s a wonderful and amazing little girl. But there are those times when she just wants to go home, pop her paci in her mouth, and watch Dora all snuggled in her two favorite blankets. Was today a day like that, you ask? Why yes, yes it was.

Sorry for the very brief post today. Emma’s mood has been up and down, hubby is out of town for the week, and Sophia choked on pieces of a pancake this morning and threw up all over the floor at a play date. Feeling a bit exhausted. This is one of those days where I need to relax, unplug, and kiss my girls over and over again. Til tomorrow, my friends.

I have a bunch of colorful tubs, they’re smaller, but I think they would make a cute ottoman too. Maybe with some patterned fabric? I’m sure there is a tutorial online. This specific ottoman is from a company based out of Cape Town. 

Inspiration for Sophia’s first birthday? Hmmm…

I know she’s only 9 months old, but her first will be here before I know it. 

I saw these sour cream glasses in the latest Martha Stewart Living magazine and loved them. She says you can order them on Ebay, but I think if you keep your eyes peeled you can find them in thrift stores. The trick is to find some that aren’t faded or chipped. I think they would be fantastic for breakfast o.j. or holding some wildflowers. I love that they are a throw back to the days of repurposed packaging. Even now, I love a beautiful jar of preserves that I know I can wash and keep long after it’s initial use. 

I took this picture a few weeks ago at a fantastic restaurant and coffee shop called Flora and Muse. It’s also a bar. And a floral shop. And I cannot wait to go back on a date night for dinner and some live music. Not only did I fall in love with the atmosphere, but look at these flowers!

I love this idea and wish I had the patience and space for this. I bought Emma a tent last Christmas but it took up too much room so we put it away. But I think she would play in this alot more, she already plays in her outdoor house alot. I would also love to put her play kitchen in it…

It took becoming a parent to realize so many things. To realize why my parents did the things that they did, to realize really how much love your heart can hold. I never knew a heart could hold so much love. When I was pregnant with Sophie, I would tell my husband “how is it possible that I can love another little human being as much as I love Emma?”. It’s funny to think back on it now, but I really did think about it. He was never worried, and for good reason. The human heart is an amazing thing. It bears so much in our lifetimes… joy, passion, sorrow, pain. It sustains our lives so that we can continue to experience all that this wonderful, and brief, life has to offer. I came across this today and really loved it. My husband and I have our differences in how we raise our children. Not a alot, we’re on the same page for most things. But this, this is so true, and something that we most definitely share …

My promise to my children is that I will parent them as fiercely and passionately and lovingly and wholeheartedly as I possibly can and for as long as my heart will allow.
